INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2018
?Yoga is not only about Asanas, It is much
more. It is a blend of Gyan (Knowledge), Karma (Work) and Bhakti (devotion).
Once an individual develops interest in Yoga and starts diligently practicing
it, it will always remain a part of his or her life. Yoga is the entrance point
to one?s spiritual journey.?
Idea of International Yoga Day was proposed
by the hon?ble Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi with an objective to
follow a practice which not only connects body, mind and soul but also help one
to discover the sense of oneness with oneself, the world and the nature. His
main aim is to strengthen the global coordination among people through yoga.
The word Yoga comes from sanskrit
word ?Yuj? which basically means to join to unite. Yoga is an ancient art which
was originated in India around six thousand years ago. Earlier people were used
to practicing yoga and meditation in their daily lives to live healthy and
strong whole life. However the practice of yoga was declining day by day in
such a crowded and hectic environment but at Arvind Gupta DAV Centenary Public
school "Yoga has been part of
curriculum since the inception.?
Under the guidance of Yoga instructors, Mr.
Puneet Shukla and Ms. Sushma, International Yoga Day was observed at Arvind
Gupta DAV Centenary Public school on 21 June 2018. Day started with a Asanas
session followed by Pranayama and Meditation that helped the participants ?
staff, students and parents to learn the positive impacts of Yoga. This was
followed by systematic practice of different ?ASANAS? like Bhadrasana, Vrikshasana,
Ardhchakrasana and Tadasana to bring about holistic approach to health and
well-being. During the course of ?Yogabhyas?,
the Yoga teacher also narrated the usefulness of different ?Asanas? in
curing many diseases and the usefulness of Yoga in the overall wellbeing of a
human being. He also pointed out that Yoga is a therapy which helps getting rid of
illnesses slowly if practiced on regular basis. It makes some positive changes
to the internal body and regularizes the body organs functioning.
Day concluded with an oath by all the
participants that they will continue to practice Yoga for keeping their Body
and mind in healthy, stress-free and cheerful condition. Light refreshments were
served to all the participants in the end.
