INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
2019
?Yoga is an age-old tradition
of India with tremendous health benefits. It is important that our young people
make it a part and parcel of their daily lives so that they can lead a happy,
healthy and energetic life.?
The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June at
Arvind Gupta DAV Centenary Public School to usher in peace, harmony, happiness
and success to every soul in the world. Yoga is a mental, physical and
spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day; this was a great
opportunity to imbibe the value of this discipline. Yoga session was held
between 8:30am to 10 am and attended by the faculty members, students and the
office employees of the school. The event began with narration of a brief
history and meaning of yoga by Yoga teacher followed by the common yoga
protocol of using the body to discipline the mind by prayer and Om chanting
with Pranayama.
Yoga
teacher enumerated various benefits of yoga for school children which were
followed by demonstrations of various asanas by the students to overcome
stress, stiffness, anxiety, improve concentration and obesity. Included in the
series were Sukshamvyam, Tadasana, Trikonasana,
Ushtrasana, Bhadrasana, Makarasana, Shashankasana, Shalbhasana, Dhanurasana,
Uttanpadasana, Mandukasana, Bhujangasana, Shavasana etc. Pranayama : -
Sithalipranayama and Anulom-Vilom Pranayama and Meditation.
Day
concluded with an oath by all the participants that they will continue to
practice Yoga for keeping their Body and mind in healthy, stress-free and
cheerful condition. Light refreshments were served to all the participants in
the end.
